Alejandra Imbachi COLOMBIA

£17.30
  • Tasting Notes: Sweet, Elegant & Fermented

It was on our trip to Colombia in late 2024 that we had the pleasure of meeting Alejandra at the dry mill in Pitalito, where we cupped her delicious Pink bourbon lot. During the cupping of various coffees and producers from the region, it was unanimous that this Pink bourbon was among the best on the table - to which Alejandra could barely hide her excitement.

BUYING STANDARDS

It’s really important for us to work with trusted partners in our supply chain who can provide us with honesty and traceability. We have created a set of guidelines to help us source coffee in a way we feel aligns with our values and beliefs. There are three core categories that we think outline the most important factors to consider when purchasing coffee: economic transparency, social relationship, and environmental efforts.

CARBON IMPACT

Our Roaster:
We’ve recently switched to a new electric Typhoon roaster which allows us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. We selected it for its capacity, efficiency, and to maintain the same high-quality roasting. This transition also marks a step toward our long-term goal of becoming carbon neutral, with a commitment to using 100% renewable electricity.

Our Packaging:
Our 250g bags are paper based and can be recycled with kerbside recycling or composted in your garden. We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight container like this one. Our 1kg bags are 70% wastemade (LDPE4) and recyclable with soft plastic at the supermarket. Please don't put them in your curbside recycling. The planet thanks you!

Social Impact

Female Producer

Along with Alejandra's delicious Pink Bourbon we were able to purchase this Caturra from her mother. It was clear whatever genes were needed to excel in coffee production were running strong through the family as their coffees stood out a mile above the rest and the first sip of both of these coffees really stuck with Cal for the rest of the trip. Visiting the various farms in Colombia it was clear that women are still relatively under-represented when it comes to producing coffee and so stumbling upon Cecilia's and her daughter’s coffees felt like a real privilege.

Alejandra Imbachi

Alejandra is working with female producers in the region, coordinating a women's group to provide access to education and training, working towards empowering women at the farm level to make decisions and increase leadership. Women carry the responsibility of maintaining the household alongside farm duties too, yet do not receive the same opportunities or recognition their male counterparts do, despite the extra workload.

Nevertheless it’s a joy to present this wonderful coffee from Alejandra, alongside the washed Caturra lot from her mother, grown side by side on their farm in Isnos, Huila.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

Colombia

Colombia is renowned for pushing the boundaries of coffee production and processing, being home to many of the worlds best and highest paid producers.

It’s well known that Colombia is synonymous with exceptional quality coffee. We aim to showcase the very best of what this country has to offer, as well as working with our partners to shine a light on marginalised producer groups, such as women producers.
