Circular Cups
We’re really proud to have been one of the first cafés to pilot a returnable cup scheme and we truly think it’s the best way to reduce both single use waste and microplastic intake. The fact is, no matter what material single use cups are: biodegradable or recyclable, 99% of them end up in landfill. Those are the facts.
While manufacture and transportation have an impact, independent studies show that when a reusable cup is circulated and washed enough times, its climate change impact drops to a fraction of a disposable paper or compostable cup.
We stopped using single-use cups in both of our cafés in 2024 and so far we’ve saved over 13,000 single-use cups going into landfill.
Paper Bags
Our 250g web packaging is 100% paper-based, meaning it can be recycled with your household paper. It’s this simplicity that makes it so good. All councils in the UK provide curbside paper recycling, which makes the best end-of-life scenario very achievable, no matter where they go.
Right now, we believe the best answer is using a material that is easy to for the end user to recycle and gets recycled in the UK. According to the ‘Department of Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs’ Paper and Card are the most widely recycled materials, with 79% being recycled, most of this in the UK.
