We're so proud to be working alongside Cornwall Rural Community Charity's (CRCC) Work Your Way programme – helping young people with additional needs gain the skills, experience and confidence they need to move into employment. The programme supports young adults with Education or Health & Care plans by providing employability training with real workplace experience, helping the transition between between education and work.

Training

Josh, has been working directly with learners, delivering barista training. For many, it's their first experience working with specialty coffee – learning everything from dialling in espresso to steaming milk, customer service and working as part of a busy team. But the goal has always been bigger than learning how to make great coffee - It's about building confidence, honing workplace skills and providing support and opportunities where we can.

We're incredibly proud that this partnership has already led to employment, with members of the programme joining our café team for further training on shift.

The next step

As our relationship with CRCC continues, we're now exploring opportunities within our coffee production too, such as packing coffee and preparing wholesale orders to getting online orders ready for dispatch. These opportunities create different pathways into work, recognising that everyone has different strengths and interests. Some individuals have voiced that the barista training can be overwhelming, so finding an alternative outlet has been a great achievement.

Why?

When businesses create opportunities like these, everyone benefits. For these young people, it's a chance to gain independence and confidence, and for employers, it's an opportunity to build diverse teams and strengthen connections within the local community.

The Work Your Way programme has already partnered with businesses across Cornwall to create successful work placements, helping young people develop skills that lead to long-term employment.

Our Community

Together, we can create more opportunities across Cornwall, helping more young people gain the confidence and experience they need to build fulfilling careers.

If you're one of our wholesale partners and would like to learn more about supporting the Work Your Way programme, we'd love to have a conversation. Get in touch with Millie or Josh to find out more, or ping us over any questions! Geddon!
