HOUSE COFFEE - FILTER

£9.50

On paper Fazenda Trapia sounds like a veritable paradise, of the total 440 hectares of land on the farm only 15% dedicated to coffee cultivation whilst 30% is under conservation. With numerous springs and waterfalls dotted around this is a true oasis among large scale coffee plantations.

BUYING STANDARDS

It’s really important for us to work with trusted partners in our supply chain who can provide us with honesty and traceability. We have created a set of guidelines to help us source coffee in a way we feel aligns with our values and beliefs. There are three core categories that we think outline the most important factors to consider when purchasing coffee: economic transparency, social relationship, and environmental efforts.

OUR PACKAGING

Our 250g bags are 100% plastic-free and can be recycled with your household paper or composted in your garden. We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight container like this one. Our 1kg bags are home compostable but not domestically recyclable, please don't put them in your curbside recycling. The planet thanks you!

Country of origin

Brazil

The largest coffee producing country in the world is not always considered for progressive growing practices or complex flavour profiles, but we make this our mission. We look to smaller producers who prioritise sustainable agriculture for all our Brazilian lots, who by no coincidence always have the best tasting coffees on the table.

Three families work on the farm all year round, picking and processing during the harvest season and working on maintenance and pruning during the rainy season. What is even more rare for Brazilian coffee is hand picking, which is needed where parts of the farm become too mountainous to mechanically pick.

We often think about where the flavour in our coffees comes from - in the case of this lot from Fazenda Trapia, it is an array of environmental and human factors, most of which we will never really understand. But one thing we are sure of, this is one of the best Brazils to come through the Roastery.

Conservation & Cultivation

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at Yallah, and this includes the coffees we purchase too. Supporting the environmental efforts of coffee producers can have huge benefits in the long term, not just for the planet but for the producers themselves, who are most at risk from the effects of climate change and the threat it poses to their crops.
