Narino SAILSHIP
From Colombia to France, and France to Plymouth, this coffee has travelled to us by the power of wind alone. After many years of trying, we have Sail Shipped coffee as part of our offer list year-round - something we are incredibly proud of.
The final leg was once again done by The Ibis, a small Cornish lugger that was rescued from Penryn, just a stone's throw from our café. It’s a picture-perfect story complete with wonderful coffee, renewable energy, restoration and maritime tradition.
We’re beyond excited to release this wonderful coffee. You can expect a cup with notes of apricot, milk chocolate and brown sugar

The Journey
The journey was in 3 stages and spanned 4,500 nautical miles, starting in Colombia and ending in Plymouth before being transported via electric to the Roastery in Falmouth. None of this would have been possible without our sailship partners; Belco, Comptoir d'Éole, and Sail Trade South West

Smallholders of Narino
This lot marks the first of two sail ship releases this year, with the second sailing landing this summer, so stay tuned for more wind-powered goodness.
This lot is produced by members of the Cafe Occidente Co-op in one of Colombia's finest regions, Narino. It’s known for its fertile volcanic soils and high altitudes - conditions we know make for fine coffee. The result is a beautifully structured washed coffee with notes of milk chocolate, brown sugar and apricot. It’s what we like to call a drinking coffee; once you’ve finished one cup, you’re going to want another.

- Belco - We have sourced this coffee through Belco, a french importer who have changed the game when it comes to sail ship transportation.
- Comptoir d'Éole - Sylvain charters the modern cargo sail boat ‘Grain De Sail’ to run a regular crossing from Porugal > France > UK.
- Sail Trade South West - the final leg of the journey (Plymouth to Port Navas) has been made possible by Dominic and Barbera Bridgman.
