This coffee has been imported by the good folks at Trabocca, one of the leading exporters for high quality, traceable Ethiopian coffee. Their journey to the Sasaba washing station wasn’t easy, with the hazardous road proving too much even for 4 wheel drive Land Cruisers. Eventually, equipt with Soviet-Era 6-wheel drive trucks they made it and the relationship has begun.

The farmers that sell their cherries to the washing station usually own around 10-15 coffee trees. We’re talking micro scale coffee farming. Cherries are processed on-site and fermented for between 48-72 hours. After this, they are placed on the drying beds for around 7-8 days. It’s early days for this group, but the quality is high and we’re excited to see what’s to come.
