A truly stunning coffee that we look forward to tasting all year! This is a light, silky coffee with vibrant acidity that gets those tropical juices flowing. For our money, this is one of the best examples of washed Ethiopian coffee out there. Get your brewer out - it’s party time.
The Sasaba smallholders are a mix of Gedeo and Guji farmers, many of whom have lived here for generations growing coffee next to each other. Like most coffee from this region, it’s predominantly organic, due to lack of supply and cost of fertilisation. Tsegay Hagos owns the mill and knows that it’s success is closely tied to that of the smallholders. They pay premiums for quality lots (like this one), provide training, support and loans during the lean months of rainy season. This will be our third year of buying coffee from this mill and we don’t see that stopping any time soon.
