BUYING STANDARDS

It’s really important for us to work with trusted partners in our supply chain who can provide us with honesty and traceability. We have created a set of guidelines to help us source coffee in a way we feel aligns with our values and beliefs. There are three core categories that we think outline the most important factors to consider when purchasing coffee: economic transparency, social relationship, and environmental efforts.

20 small scale producers

Limontitla, meaning ‘Land of Lemons’ in the region’s indigenous Nahuatl language, is situated right on the border of Puebla and Veracruz. This area lends itself to growing high quality coffee thanks to it’s high altitude, cool climate and vast canopies of shade-giving trees. Ensambles chose this region to focus on not only for the possibility of finding delicious coffee, but to introduce this remote region to the specialty coffee market for the first time. This is the first ever harvest Ensambles have processed at their own mill from these producers and it’s safe to say it’s exceeded all expectations.

Impact

Shipped By Sail

Since our trip to Mexico earlier this year, we’ve been working with Ensambles and New Dawn Traders to bring this coffee all the way to the Cornish shores using only the power of the wind.
