FINCA BETHANIA // NICARAGUA
This variant is currently sold out
When we met Martha and her sister Ana earlier this year, we knew straight away it was the start of a great thing - lovely people with a genuine passion for quality coffee. This micro-lot is 1 of 2 Maracaturras that we bought from the sister’s, each processed using different methods. This is the ‘honey process’ - it’s a special thing.
All of the coffees we tasted at the Cafetos micro mill (which processes for other local farms as well as their own) were high quality, but it felt natural to buy something from Bethania itself. The farm belonged to their father before the political strife forced his family to leave the country. In 2007 the sisters returned to run the farm themselves - they’ve been improving quality every year since then.
Maracatura is a hybrid varietal with praised cup characteristics and high yields, given the quality. This makes it an ideal choice from growers who want to improve quality without risking their crops.
