It’s not often you find Peruvian coffees tasting like this. In fact, it’s fair to say we were all a bit surprised to find this little fruit bomb on the cupping table - a few double-checks to make sure we had our senses with us before the unanimous decision, we need to buy this coffee!

Elmer Tineo Mendoza is a first-generation coffee farmer and is the owner of around 10 hectares of land. Although he owns the farm, it is separated out into thirds which he has given to three of his children. Elmer’s son, Elvis, manages the process and drying of the coffee while Elmer carries out most of the picking, coordinating temporary staff and general farm work and crop management.

Last year they started to process natural coffees and this is one of the first lots. They have some land at medium altitude (1600masl) that requires extra processing, so producing naturals from this elevation improves efficiency and cup score. A double win. This coffee is bought directly via Falcon Speciality - there are no middlemen and we can say for sure the premiums are received by Elmer and his family.
