Among coffee-producing countries, Ethiopia holds near-legendary status. Not only is it the birthplace of coffee but it also (for our money) produces the most unique and exceptionally flavour profiles from small-holders who have very minimal intervention with their crop. Banko Gotiti is a village in the Gedeb district of Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone, where Yirgacheffe is located. The co-op was founded in 2012 and is small by local standard, with just 300 members. The farmers living around this region tend to own less than a hectare of land and grow coffee alongside other subsistence crops. Coffee will usually be interspersed with sweet potato, mangos, and avocados. The farming here is all organic by necessity, simply because the smallholders cannot afford fertilisers.

Our Packaging & what to do with it...

Our 250g bags are 100% plastic-free and can be recycled with your household paper or composted in your garden. We recommend storing your coffee in an airtight container like this one, not in the fridge.

Our 1kg bags are home compostable but not domestically recyclable, please don't put them in your curbside recycling.
