This Indonesian semi-washed coffee is an absolute standout, packed full of flavour and deeply aromatic. When brewed right it’s a perfect  balance of crisp and sweet. Delivering a silky espresso that tastes like a summer fruits cordial. What a beauty.

Producers: Toraja Coffee Farmers
Origin: Indonesia
Variety: Catuai
Process: Semi-washed
Tasting Notes: Tobacco, pomegranate, red fruits & cherries

This lot comes from several Toraja coffee plantations located in the mountains of Tana Toraja which are managed by around 30 out-grower farmers working directly with the Sultoco Estate. Here coffee is grown using organic fertiliser from livestock, and benefits from the shade given by mostly lamtoro and dadap trees.

Each farmer’s household has a small mechanical depulper that they use to process coffee cherry into wet parchment. They deliver both cherry and wet parchment to Sultoco who will finish the processing. The farmers receive a premium according to the quality of the coffee cherry or wet parchment that has been delivered.
