We’ve always been proud of our decaf, now we’re taking it a step further. Why shouldn’t decaf drinkers get a choice too! This is a lovely coffee from 2 very remote districts of Papua New Guinea, decaffeinated using the C02 process.

Producers: Various Smallholder Farmers
Origin: Eastern Highlands, Papua New Guinea
Variety: Typica, Arusha
Process: Washed
Tasting notes: Hibiscus, cherry, malt & chocolate

This special lot is made entirely from Smallholder farms from Lufa and Okapa Districts. These regions have perfect growing conditions, but the coffee here has suffered due to the infrastructure and difficult landscape. These lots were paid for on collection, saving time and money by using a fleet of vehicles previously inaccessible for rural farmers. This is a big step forward for the community, offering economic mobility for producers through the specialty coffee market.

The C02 process is our favourite method of decaffeination. It’s a gentle process, using the highly selective solvent; CO2. Raw, unroasted coffee is moistened with water and put into a vessel where it is brought into contact with pressurised, liquid carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide draws caffeine out of the beans, leaving them 99.9% caffeine free. Magic.
